Two questions and we can price it.

Start here and the full form below is already half filled.

1 — What do you need?
2 — Your ZIP code

Permit rules and drive times change from city to city. Nothing is sent yet.

No power right now, or a generator that will not start?

Say “emergency” when you call. Technicians are on a 24/7 rotation, 365 days — including during named storms, when we run extended crews. Maintenance-plan customers go first during a regional outage; we would rather tell you that now than have you find out then.

What we do

Four different jobs. Four different conversations.

A homeowner pricing a first generator and a plant manager pricing downtime need opposite things from us. Pick the one that is actually you.

Maintenance plans

A generator is a small engine that sits outdoors in Gulf Coast humidity for months at a time. Scheduled oil, filters and valve checks are the difference between a backup plan and an expensive lawn ornament.

Three short steps. Straight to a Houston phone.

Two minutes now, and someone from our Houston office calls you back today. If the power is already out, call instead — that is faster than anything we can do with a form.

1 We read it the same business dayWithin the hour if you told us the power is out.
2 A real load calculation, not a guessDriven by your air-conditioning tonnage, not your square footage. Photos of the panel are usually enough to size it before anyone drives out.
3 A written, itemised priceEquipment, pad, gas, electrical, permit and startup broken out separately. No “packages”. Median across our last 155 residential jobs was $17,800.

Prefer to talk it through? (281) 997-9110 reaches our office directly — Mon–Fri 7:30 to 5:00, and the on-call technician after hours.

What can we help with?

Pick the closest. It changes who calls and what they ask you.

How soon?

It changes what we bring to the visit, nothing else.

Who should we call?

A person from our Houston office, same business day — or within the hour if you have no power.

By submitting, you are asking Generator Industries to contact you about this request. We use the details above to reply.

We reply the same business day. Within the hour if the power is out.

Sizing

How big a generator does your house actually need?

Most Houston homes are sold one or two sizes larger than they need. Air conditioning is the reason — the starting load of your compressors decides the machine far more than your square footage does, and an installer who has not asked about your AC has not sized anything.

This gives you a starting point for that conversation. It is not a quote, and no web page can replace a load calculation at the property — but it will tell you whether the number someone has quoted you is in the right neighbourhood.

Why this is a starting point and not a price

Two houses with identical numbers here can be several thousand dollars apart, because the cost is driven by the gas run, whether the meter needs upsizing, and how far the generator sits from your panel. None of that can be guessed from a slider.

What it does tell you: if someone has quoted you two sizes above this without measuring anything, ask them why.

Why we hold the licence

An electrical contractor that specialises in generators.

A generator install is mostly electrical work — a load calculation, a transfer switch, a service connection, sometimes a panel. Plenty of companies sell the machine and subcontract the part that actually keeps you safe.

We hold the licence ourselves. TECL #31315. Our own electricians do the wiring, we pull whatever permits apply, and we meet the inspector.

Houston’s power reality

Even the energy capital of the world isn’t immune to outages.

74%

of Houston-area homes lost power during Hurricane Beryl — the city’s most widespread outage in decades.

75%

of Houston households had at least one power outage between January and April 2024.

25.7%

of Houston-area households had an outage lasting six hours or more in the past year.

19%

of Harris County homes were without power at the peak of Winter Storm Uri in 2021.

Generac PowerScore · 2026

Harris County is the number-one generator market in America.

Generac scores all 3,143 counties in the United States for standby generator need. Harris scores 100 out of 100 — first in the country. The national average is 41. Every county we cover sits in the national top 3%.

Recent work

Installed, inspected, and running in your neighbourhood.

26 kW whole-home, natural gas

A two-system, six-ton home with a pool. Managed load on the second condenser let us stay on an air-cooled machine instead of stepping up to liquid cooling, which saved the customer the largest single jump in the price.

22 kW with HOA-compliant screening

Side-yard setback was thirty-eight inches. We pulled the variance, set the pad and screened it to the association’s specification rather than asking the customer to negotiate it themselves.

500 kW Tier 4 diesel, cold storage

Four hours of acceptable downtime meant a forty-eight-hour on-site fuel plan and a load bank test at full rated load before handover, with the documentation to match.

Maintenance

The failure rate on unmaintained generators is not a sales pitch.

The units we get called out to during storms are almost always the ones nobody has looked at. A generator is a small engine sitting outdoors in Gulf Coast humidity for months without running — hot, humid, dusty and cold, which is why twice a year is the interval this climate actually needs.

Gold — two visits a year

$495 / year

Spring and autumn service on the manufacturer’s schedule, oil and filters, battery test, load test, plus priority dispatch during a regional outage. Monitoring added if required.

Platinum — four visits a year

$795 / year

Quarterly attention for units that run hard, sit in harsher conditions, or carry something you cannot afford to lose. Same priority dispatch. Monitoring added if required.

Commercial — quoted per facility

Quarterly or monthly preventive maintenance, annual load bank test, NFPA 110 record keeping and fuel polishing where there is a diesel tank to look after.

Available on units we did not install, which is a large share of the plans we run.

Brands

We sell two brands, and we will tell you which one fits.

We are factory-certified on both Generac and Kohler, which means we have no commercial reason to steer you toward either. Our own completed jobs put them within a few hundred dollars of each other at the same size.

So the recommendation you get is about your house — your air conditioning, your gas supply, where the pad can legally go and what your panel will take. Not about what we happen to have in the warehouse.

If you already know which one you want, that is fine too. If you do not, that is the normal position to be in three days after an outage, and it is what the site visit is for.

Generac

PowerPro Elite Plus in Generac’s dealer programme and factory-certified for warranty work. 2,313 units installed across Greater Houston, counted in Generac’s own system.

Kohler

Authorised Kohler generator dealer with Kohler-certified technicians, so warranty claims are handled here rather than routed to whoever is available.

How it works

Four steps, and you always know who is coming.

01

Schedule a free consultation

On site or virtual. We confirm what you want covered, where you are and when you need it.

02

Consultation and design

A licensed technician does the load calculation, recommends the machine, and puts a written scope in your hands.

03

Installation and integration

Permits, pad, gas, transfer switch and panel work. Our own TECL-licensed electricians, to Houston code.

04

Final testing

Full diagnostics, warranty activated, and a walkthrough so you know exactly what happens on an outage.

Most installs are one to four days on site. Permitting and utility coordination usually runs one to three weeks depending on the jurisdiction — we handle all of it.

“Three crews came: to set the generator, plumbing and electricians. They were all very professional and pleasant. When the installation was complete, I was given a full hands on explanation. It was a good experience.”

Deborah C.
Before the first call

The questions everybody asks.

How long does an install actually take?

One to four days on site. The honest timeline is the permit and the gas work, which usually puts the whole thing at two to six weeks from signature. Anyone promising you next week is not counting the permit.

What does a whole-home system cost?

Across our last 155 completed residential installs the median was about $17,800, and roughly three quarters came in under $20,000. Most land between $13,000 and $22,000.

Three things set where you fall in that range: generator size, whether the gas meter needs upsizing, and how far the machine sits from your panel.

Will my gas meter support it?

Often not, at 22 kW and above. A standby generator is usually the largest gas appliance a house has. We calculate the total connected load and, where the meter needs upsizing, we deal with the utility and show it as its own line rather than as a surprise.

My HOA is difficult. Does that stop us?

Rarely. Texas law limits how far an association can go in prohibiting a standby generator, and most objections are about placement and screening rather than the machine itself. We have pulled variances and screened installs to association specification plenty of times.

Do you service generators you did not install?

Yes, and a large share of our service work is exactly that. It makes no difference to the price or to how quickly we come out.

Can it run my air conditioning?

In Houston that is the only question that matters, and the answer is yes — correctly sized. On homes with two or three systems we often use load management, which staggers the compressors so a smaller machine carries the same house without you noticing.

Coverage

Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston and Montgomery.

Dispatched from Mosley Road in Houston near BW8 rather than from out of state. On an ordinary Tuesday that is irrelevant. In the week after a named storm it is the whole thing.

Hurricane season runs June to November, and the service queue fills the moment a system enters the Gulf.

★★★★★ Hurricane Beryl

“During Hurricane Beryl, I stayed with my grandma who had a generator installed by Generator Industries… our power was out for a week. She was the only one who had power in our family and the generator worked phenomenally! … the lights went out for maybe 10 seconds before the generator kicked on.”
